LONG RETURN RUN

Meet:     Hardstand opposite the entry into McPhillamy Park on top of Mt Panorama Circuit,

Time:     New date Sunday 19 July 2015 at 10.00 am for a start at 10.15am

 Organiser:   Michael Soulos   Contact:   Mob 0413 11 33 99  &  Email:   captain@mx5.com.au

The LONG RETURN RUN is a traditional BreakFast Club Waypoint Run on some fantastic MX-5 roads   Graded as XHard with a cross section of  tight twisting sections to easy sweeping curves including the awe inspiring run up Shooters Hill Road through the pine plantations to Oberon   Distance to Lithgow approx.185km.

Details:   After breakfast make your way to the Mt Panorama Circuit to drive a few slow laps then head up to the hardstand on top of The Mountain for a 10.00am briefing.  The route is an après brekkie regular for the BreakFast Club over some of our favourite sections of Central Tableland back roads.

We head down Perthville to take the Rockley Road to Rockley village and on as far as the Mt David Road for Mt David, then Campbell River Road to Black Springs for a convenience break in the tall timbers of the village park.

From Black Springs the route follows the Abercrombie Road down to Shooters Hill Road for the awesome drive up to Oberon on a very smooth wide road built to motorway standards through pine plantations.  From Oberon we will decide on whether we go home through Mt Lyall and Tarana or through Duckmaloi and Hampton to stop at the Shell Servo on the GWH east of Lithgow for a refreshment/convenience break.

From the Shell servo everybody elects which way is most convenient for them to get back over the Blue Mountains to get home in the late afternoon.

SHORT RETURN RUN

Meet:       Hardstand opposite the entry into McPhillamy Park on top of Mt Panorama Circuit,

Time:        New date Sunday 19 July 2015 at 10.15 am for a start at 10.30am

Organiser:           Michael Soulos       Contact:   Mob 0413 11 33 99   &  Email:   captain@mx5.com.au

The SHORT RETURN RUN is relaxed Waypoint Run organised by the BreakFast Club for all members to enjoy at their chosen pace    Graded as Hard due to the nature of the wonderful winding road between O’Connell & Lithgow  - Distance to Lithgow approx. 62km

Details:   After breakfast enjoy a few slow laps of the Mt Panorama Circuit before pulling in onto the hardstand on top of The Mountain for a briefing on the Short Return Run.  The Short Run is the quickest and most direct route back to Lithgow avoiding the Great Western Highway that is used as the route to chase the Brass Monkey to Bathurst for breakfast earlier in the day.  The route is a great drive across the rolling hills of the southern Central Tablelands starting off  from the top of The Mountain.

The route goes down to the Orton Park for a quick run to The Lagoon (first waypoint) then on the Lagoon Road across to O’Connell (second waypoint).  The route takes the first right past the O’Connell Hotel to follow Mutton Falls Road over to Tarana (third waypoint) then on the Rydal Sodwalls Tarana Road to the Rydal Hampton Road intersection (fourth waypoint).

From the intersection it is a quick right then left turn to follow the Rydal Sodwalls Tarana Road past Lake Lyell to the Shell Service Station at the ‘T’ intersection with the GWH for a convenience/refreshment stop.  From the Shell servo everybody elects which way is most convenient for them to get back over the Blue Mountains to get home in the early afternoon.
