Hunter 2016 Putty Run

At the risk of sounding repetitive when I stated that the early morning Wyong Milk Co-op run was the best run I had yet experienced, along comes an early morning run down the Putty Road that escapes description, a drive so good that a mouthful of superlative words still fails to grasp the entirety of the experience. A run so good that long term members have never seen the Putty Road so empty. Believe it or not.

Imagine this folks, how many slow cars heading in the same direction would you feel that would make a run down the Putty acceptable or okay or good or great or unbelievable. 20 cars………no, 15 cars……..no, 10 cars……..no, would you believe 2 cars, the first one pulled over and let us pass and the other car pretty much maintained our speed from Colo to Windsor anyways, can you believe that!

So back to the beginning, without any conscious planning for the run, I was fortunate enough to get some new wheels and tyres (hopefully for track days and maybe supersprints in the future) the previous week and decided to fit them for the run and try them out (they passed their induction by the way). A quick drive to Macca’s at Cessnock to meet the other 14 cars and off we went in glorious sunshine for as I mentioned, a run down the Putty Road that will be talked about for years to come. The temperature gauge in the car reached as low as 3 degrees air temperature so made for good preparation for the upcoming Brass Monkey Run.

After a quick break at the Grey Gum café it was off to Windsor for a short break in the main street mall and markets before meeting the Sydney chapter at McGraths Hill Macca’s for a return journey back up the putty. The gods may have smiled on us for the southward run but on the way back they were definitely frowning, but that’s another story. So far, early morning runs are two for two. Believe it or not
