Midweek Kaos 300 Run

20 November 2015 / Story: Karl Mittmann Photos: Karl Mittmann

This Mid Week run was the BEST EVA to date.

18 Members in 13 MX-5's is a great turn out in anyone's language especially being a Thursday whilst most people are at work.

Lots of new faces whom I hadn't met as yet but knew they were going to be friendly and fun. Welcome to the Hunter Chapter Mid Week to Clive Jones, Bill Douglas, Val Stewart, Liam Price, Jonathan Davies, Christopher Breen, and David Gazzard.
Some are long term members of the MX-5 Club who we haven't seen for a while so welcome back guys.

Usual mix of NA's NB's NC's and 2 Brand New ND's made up the convoy. We Left Beresfield and travelled along the HUNTER EXPRESSWAY to depart onto the GOLDEN HIGHWAY just before SINGLETON. It was a sight to see, Massive Open Cut Coal Mines for miles & miles, 1 comment on the CB was not very pretty is it and I agree hopefully one day it will be back to the pretty pastures we once had out this way. A 10 minute convenience stop and leg stretch in JERRYS-PLAINS and we were off again.

Onward Ho to the settlement of DENMAN and Historic SANDY HOLLOW then through some fantastic mountain bends to MUSWELLBROOK which was our choice for a relaxing, laid back talkative Lunch at the local RSL Club.

Cold Beers on a 39 degree  day are somehow, Just Magic and the mix of Aussie & Chinese menu satisfied everyone.

After much talk and waiting for Barry to finish his Coffee (lol), our next leg of the run was onto SINGLETON via the NEW ENGLAND H/Way. onto Queen St and this is where the fun factor came into play.

Anyone that has driven the Gresford-Road, Elderslie, Stanhope, Maitland-Vale Roads knows what I'm referring to here. Its an insanely well sealed, not much travelled road (which is a good thing) as you can really loosen the reins and Drive your MX-5 as it should be driven, lets just say, Somewhat Spirited.

Some took advantage of this offering whilst others just enjoyed the sensational scenery. We re grouped in Bolwarra-Heights to say our farewells to the BEST EVA, Mid Week run to date, oh did I say how Hot it was?

Thank you one and all for being a part of this most successful day doing what we all love to do.
