Port to Pacific Palms Run

21 March 2015 / Words and pictures by Greg Cox

Our first joint run for the year with Hunter Chapter commenced at the Port Macquarie Service Centre, with a small group of Mid North Coast MX-5 members gathering at 9.30.

We set off in fine weather down the Pacific Highway on our usual route through the winding back roads of Moorland and Lansdown to the Service Centre at Glenthorne for morning tea.

After a short break, we continued South to the Wooton turn off, where we met the Hunter contingent, waiting at the Northern end of the Nurbushring.

Soon after we set off on this “made for MX-5” piece of road, the heavens opened, and it was all stop to close the roof, and then take it slowly as the road was awash and covered in debris from the storm.

We regrouped at the Pacific Highway North of Buladelah, and proceeded along the Lakes Way across the Northern end of Myall Lakes and into Pacific Palms.

A planned side trip to Seal Rocks was cancelled due to the weather and time restraints.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch and good conversation with the Hunter members at the Pacific Palms Recreation Club, before making our separate ways home.

Thank you to the Hunter group for joining us on the run, and to Kevin for leading the Mid North Coast contingent.
