The BreakFast Club heads West

7am on 16 November, the cars started rolling into Richmond McDonalds. A sly comment was made, this run should have been called 50 Shades of Grey, not only because of the weather, but the exciting colour combinations of MX-5s. It was Grey/Silver as far as the eye could see. This was quickly cured with the arrival of Jamie, Alan and Rico in their much more colourful MX-5s

A quick briefing was carried out; we were all full of caffeine and ready to hit the road. 13 members in 12 cars exited the car park with only the brave dropping the roof for the run up the Bells Line. That lasted as long Kurrajong when the heavens opened up and started pelting down rain. A slow in speed had us all raising our tops on the run for the first half of the trip.

With minimum traffic we were quickly at our first waypoint at Bell. After a regroup we had a quick cut across the Darling Causeway, joined back onto the Highway for the run down Mount Victoria. The road was dry on the other side of the Range, perfect timing for our next waypoint stop at the Jenolan Caves turnoff, where we picked up a recently joined member, who has just purchased the famous ex-Flak-NC2 with the bright-orange OZ wheels.

Terry joined the convoy as we zigged and zagged our way through the narrow passageway into Jenolan Caves and out the other side for the tight twisty hill climb up to Oberon. The Oberon locals were overcome with the influx of our loved Roadsters, we promptly re-organised the local café’s tables and sat down to a well-deserved Breakfast.

The return run had us heading back towards Sydney along the Bells Line of Road just before the Sunday afternoon traffic kicked in.

All members enjoyed the run, despite the gloomy weather overhead. Another great Sunday morning run!
