Join us for this short, but very interesting, run to Bowning for a great lunch at a good old Aussie pub. We'll pull into Yass for morning tea (there are some very good coffee spots here) before heading out Bowning.

According to local knowledge the Bowning Hotel, previously known as the Commercial Hotel Bowning, has been in operation for well over 100 years. As the story goes, the hotel was established in 1870 and poets Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson used to drink here. It's quite probable, too, as Henry lived next door at Mayfield House for a while. If you want, you can lean on the very post outside the pub that once held Henry up.

Take a walk around Bowning (there are a couple of beautiful old churches and an historic railway station) or browse the Bowning Antique Centre for a treasure.

If you are interested in taking on the (rather exciting) role of Run Leader, this is a perfect way to start. Ian Bottcher, the current Run Leader, is happy to mentor anyone who is up to the challenge.
