Every year the BreakFast Club holds the MX500, a day mega run, however, in 2017 with the MX5 Club Gathering the MX5 Breakfast Club is offering members a chance to drive the MX500+ on some of our favourite roads in a loop up to the Upper Hunger Valley, across to the Central Tablelands to Hill End then down to Orange for the night.

If a weekend event is not an option for you then you can still get your 500km in on a day run finishing back in Sydney by branching off in either Rylstone or Mudgee or even Bathurst for a bigger fix.

The MX500+ will start from McDonalds at McGraths Hill at 7am to head up the 155km of the Putty Road to the start of the Gorges Run for the best 13km winding road drive in a MX5s within 200km of the CBD.  From the top of the Putty Road we will head up either to Singleton to refuel and have breakfast/brunch stop or go straight to Denman for Breakfast and 95RON petrol depending on the fuel situation for the models joining this waypoint run.

From Singleton or Denman after breakfast we will cut back to the Golden Highway turning off to drive down the Bylong Valley.  Bylong Valley Way is an iconic drive in an MX5 starting off with wide sweeping curves before crossing ridge lines with switch backs down to the quaint Bylong General Store where members are encouraged to buy something to ensure its ongoing survival.

From Bylong we will head towards Rylstone where members not traveling on to Orange could leave the run to get their 500km fix for the day on the drive back across the mountains or the option of continuing on and cutting later.

The main run continues from the outskirts of Rylstone up the Lue Road to Mudgee where everyone will be encouraged to visit a servo if you need 98RON petrol.  We will stop at the honey shop in Mudgee at the start of the road to Hill End for those interested in purchasing product or refreshments.  We will take another refreshment break at the historic and heritage listed Royal George Hotel in Hill End.

From Hill End we will drive the wonderful and now sealed road back towards Sofala turning off for a great run down to Duramana and the outskirts of Bathurst for the short run on the Great Western Highway to Orange and our venue for the night after topping up on fuel for Sunday morning run.

On Sunday morning in addition to the Club run leaving at around 10.00am to go up Mt Canobalas and visit to Phillip Shaw WInfes on the way down the BreakFast Club's return run will leave Orange after breakfast by 800am or thereabouts to head down and cross over the wall at Wyangala Dam or a road chosen on Satrday night for a fabulous drive on backroads towards Bathurst for the Blue Mountains via Lithgow.  The run will end at the Shell services station at Bowenfels to allow people the option of returning over the Bells Line of Road or the Great Western Highway.

For accommodation and the dinner details on the Saturday night please visit the All Club post for the MX5 Club Gathering in Orange.

PLEASE EMAIL THE ORGANISER TO ADVISE THAT YOU WISH TO JOIN THE MX500+
