Braidwood 4

Bookings have now closed (30 September 2019) and accommodation allocation in Braidwood has been exhausted.  If you would like to join us on Day 1 for part of the run (Just because it is a beautiful day and you would like to take your car for a spin) please call Tanya on 0418407116.  We would love to see you.

 

Day 1 – The Amazing Chase starts from Haywards Bay to Braidwood.

Our adventure will start at 9 a.m. from Hungry Jacks, Haywards Bay then commence through Albion Park along the highway, then after Kiama turning left off the highway towards Gerringong, then proceeding to Bomaderry via Gerroa (Seven Mile Beach) and Coolangatta.  We then return to the Princes highway, crossing over the Shoalhaven River Bridge heading south through Nowra.  After a quick break and comfort stop (just out of Nowra) we continue along the highway to Batemans Bay via Milton, Ulladulla and Burrill Lake.  We then cross the Clyde River Bridge into Batemans Bay and proceed to Mogo for our lunch stop via Tomakin (looping around some picturesque coastal roads).

Lunch:  Will be at Mogo and includes time for a look around at all the local arts and craft stores. (Estimated stop time is 1.5 hrs).

We will be departing Mogo at 2 p.m. and then back tracking to Batemans Bay to travel along the Kings highway (B52) to Braidwood via Nelligen and Clyde Mountain.  Estimated time of arrival to Braidwood is 3 p.m.

You now have time to explore Braidwood (e.g. Museum, Antiques, Model car store etc) or attend the optional tour of Bedervale Historic Homestead (http://www.bedervale.com).

Note: This tour is subject to a minimum number attending and the cost is $15 per person.  You will need to confirm your attendance via the booking form to allow for a group booking to be made closer to the date, if minimum numbers have been reached.

Dinner:  Options are still being reviewed and will be locked in closer to time.  Dinner will be booked for 7pm.  Note: Please indicate your intention to attend dinner via the booking form. 

Accommodation:  Braidwood Colonial Motel, 199 Wallace Street, Braidwood.  Cost is $115 per room (All 10 rooms have been reserved under MX-5 Club for 1 night (Saturday 19 Oct – check-in around 3 p.m.).

Day 2 – The Amazing Chase continues from Braidwood to Bundanoon Hotel.

Breakfast:  By own arrangements.  There are a number of cafes and a bakery in the main street up from the Motel. 

We depart Braidwood at 9.15am and head towards Goulburn along Goulburn Road via Tarago and Lake Bathurst.  Once in Goulburn we have a guided tour scheduled at the Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre (approx. duration up to 1 hour).  The cost of an adult ticket is $10 or $6 concession.  The Goulburn Locomotive Roundhouse is the largest heritage based operating roundhouse in NSW and displays the historic transition from steam to diesel rail operation – well worth a look!  (http://www.roundhouse.org.au/)

Leaving Goulburn at no later than 11.30 a.m. we travel some backroads that provide us with some nice MX-5 roads towards Bundanoon Hotel (for lunch) via Highland way this also includes a quick stop at the Badgerys Lookout (15 mins).  The scenery at the lookout is just spectacular.

Lunch:  Is booked for 1.15pm at the Bundanoon Hotel, 6-18 Erith Street, Bundanoon.  Confirm your attendance via the booking form.  Run ends here.
