Forster via Old Bar mystery run

16 February 2021 / Wayne Lang

After meeting at "Olivers" at the Service Centre in Port Macquarie on a rain threatening morning, there was a good turn out for a Tuesday mid-week run.

Attendees were Margaret and Murray in their NC, Roby and Peter in their Limited Edition Heritage NB, Pammy and Allen in their ND, Jane and Greg in their NDRF and my Daughter Kim who accompanied me today because Cath had to work, in our NB.

We left on time but with hoods up because it had just started to rain, and headed up the Pacific Highway until we reached the Old Bar turn-off and our morning tea destination at the "Flow Bar".

When we arrived, we were greeted by the smiling faces of run organisers Susan and John who would lead us for the rest of the drive. In the meantime, we enjoyed milkshakes, coffees, muffins, scones and bacon & egg rolls (in memory of John H), before heading off on the remainder of our mystery run.

From Old Bar it was up the Bucketts Way to Krambach for a quick comfort break, and then back to Nabiac on the Pacific Highway. It was only a short drive north from there to the Forster turn-off.

Once reaching Forster, we all met at the Golf Club and headed inside where it was nice and cool, found our table and settled in for lunch. The food was tasty with a great menu selection to choose from. We all mingled and chatted during our meals, catching up on what everyone had been up to since last time we got together, then we participated in a fun guessing game that Susan and John had conjured up.

First, we had to guess what was wrapped up in the gift packaging. This led to many way-out suggestions of a suggestive nature leading to much laughter. We had to guess the distance we'd travelled from Krambach to our destination at Forster, with the closest guesstimation being Jane and Greg, with the prize being revealed as a small home-grown butternut pumpkin about the size of a large pear.

The day was a loads of fun and I'd really like to thank everyone for making my Daughter feel so welcome. She had a great day meeting all the MNC members.

Until next time, take care.
