Gingers Creek Picnic Run

It was a beautiful clear and sunny morning as our 6 members, Pam and Allen, Peter and Jill, and Jane and Greg, met at the Port Macquarie Service Centre for our revised picnic run to Gingers Creek.

Due to the new social distancing rules, it was decided to change the run from using inside venues to an outside picnic area.

With tops down, Jane and Greg led the group heading west along the Oxley highway through Wauchope, with only light traffic as we climbed the Great Dividing range.

After passing through Long Flat, we enjoyed the twists and turns that make the Oxley highway such a great MX5 drive.

Due to the recent bushfires closing the highway for several months, we hadn’t travelled this route for some time, and it was good to see the regrowth appearing on the burnt trees along the roadside.

We soon arrived at our picnic site and set up for morning tea and lunch.

Kevin and Jenny from Armidale joined us soon after as they were travelling through to Port Macquarie.

After an enjoyable lunch and chat it was soon time to depart for home, so we said our farewells and started back down the mountain.

As this was out last run for the foreseeable future, we ask all members to please take care at this difficult time, and we look forward to seeing you all again when safe to do so.
