Hunter Chapter know how to Xmas Party!

02 January 2018 / Story by Lindsay Green & Photos by David Gazzard

Organising a Xmas Party is never a small task, however, Elaine Gazzard makes this event look easy. Backing it up for a second year Elaine organised a wonderful end of year Twilight Xmas Party for the Hunter Chapter and a whopping 60 attendees came out in support of it.

DSC08319 The Xmas Party included finger food to start, BBQ dinner and bowls all provided by the Boolaroo Bowling Club. Who could forget the fantastic desserts, each made by a number of members who had gladly put their hand up to assist. Once all the attendees had arrived and before heading out to hit the greens the Hunter Chapter Co-Convenors took the floor to present some Thank You gifts on behalf of the Hunter Chapter for the volunteers that made 2017 an exceptional year (see the wonderful volunteers list at the bottom). Over to Josh Allen who presented some of the Motorsports Awards to Hunter Chapter recipients and then onto our visiting President, Keith Monaghan, who presented tenure awards as well as the Runner Up Club New Member of the Year. Then final honours to Elaine Gazzard to present her best dressed and best hat gifts (Jen Boyko, Jenny Luttrell, Bob Pimm & Annette Wild).

Onto the greens we all went enjoying the twilight and company of our fellow chapter members. It was great to see so many give lawn bowls a red hot go, even if that red hot go saw their bowl getting closer to another games jack than those playing that game. Skill was not a requirement for bowls, just a sense of fun and frivolity that is always present in the Hunter Chapter. Even when it came to the games, with so many bowls on the green you’d need luck not skill to win! On that note, seeing the spider aka teddy (that little Albie had taken a fancy too) have many a lawn bowl aimed and rolled directly at, you’d be lucky to not have your bowl knocked out but the winner shone through and Deb Marshall collected her prize!

Final call for dinner was made and we all scurried inside! All relaxing in the company of friends we enjoyed a feast cooked and served by the Bowling Club. What a perfect way to end a truly enjoyable night!

Thanks to Elaine & David for their efforts in making a relaxing end of year party for all to enjoy and to Boolaroo Bowling Club who provided the venue, food and greens and for staying open that little bit longer for us to continue our celebrations.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year!
