Hunter Midweek to Pie in the Sky

14 April 2018

Broken-down trucks on the M1 and wallets hiding under seats couldn’t prevent us from enjoying our mid-week run through our beautiful Hunter countryside. Taking the long way around through Wollombi and Kulnura, our group of seven cars enjoyed great weather for a nice cruisey run (with just a couple of winding bits thrown in from time to time).Everyone enjoyed a leisurely morning tea at Kulnura and a browse through their Garden Nick-Knack shop before heading on to the old Pacific Hwy and the last section of the run to Brooklyn. A small detour saw us briefly on the M1 - navigator Chris misread a round-about exit turn but Rob quickly came to the rescue and radioed an alternative route to get us back on track. We arrived at Pie in the Sky only a little later than planned to happily find that there were still plenty of tasty pies on offer. The great view, a cool breeze and shady seating provided a top spot to enjoy lunch and a chat before everyone headed home. Thank you to all who attended.
