Kaos 300Plus Putty run

Another KAOS 300, eagerly anticipated, immensely enjoyed and now relegated to history!

What makes a perfect MX5 day?

The road, the weather, the company, all our ducks were in a row!!

We met as usual at the Beresfield Hungary Jacks, albeit a little late due to the hectic traffic conditions, that now seems  to be common place in our once quiet domain.

There were 11 cars and 14 members and 1 guest, a surprisingly large number for a midweek run, maybe a reputation is building!

Mind you no one can take credit for the Putty Road, IT IS AN ICON!

We headed out towards Kurri, then right towards Heddon Greta, turning left onto the freeway, made our way to the Lovedale turn, then up through the Vineyards along Broke Rd, which becomes Cessnock Rd to Broke. Already the traffic had lightened and the roads opened up for some nice cruising and the weather was stunning.

We had a short break at Broke and then travelled along Milbrodale Rd through to Milbrodale, where we regrouped in preparation/anticipation for the Putty Rd.

The run from Milbrodale to the Grey Gums Café is most definitely the “jewel in the crown”, but even with an Icon like the Putty some days are better than others. Wednesday was perfect, the only slow traffic was at an ideal time, Karl didn`t even have to slow down. Patrick and I who were following Kaos had minimal interruption. I can`t really comment on those behind me but I didn’t hear any complaints

The road just flowed from corner to corner, and the sound track echoing off the sandstone escarpment was as good as it gets!

The Grey Gums Café was our next way point, the convoy regrouped and topped up the caffeine levels, ready for the next stage.

We followed the Putty Rd at a nice cruising pace everyone in  tight formation, down through Mellong, on to Colo Heights, then Colo. We then turned left onto Bull Ridge Rd through to Ebenezer (the home of the presidents picnic) and onto the Sackville Ferry, which was another opportunity to regroup.

There is so much to see around that area, lots of interesting little places to explore. This would be a great place to spend a weekend.

After the Ferry we travelled along Sackville Ferry Rd onto Wisemans Ferry Rd joining the Old Northern Rd at Maroota, then a quick dash down to Wisemans Ferry Pub for a late lunch.

It really was a perfect MX5 day, the weather was superb, and as usual the conversation flowed.

Soon after lunch the group began to disperse as some members had to get home earlier than others.

That area really does just keep on giving, the drive along Wisemans Ferry Rd up through Mangrove Mountain is also a highlight in an MX5. The drive continues from there onto Somersby and it`s all but over. From there we are on the freeway and heading home.

In total we covered 400 kms, another great day made possible by the MX5 club.

Thanks to all who came along and special thanks to Karl for leading the day.
