Mollymook Fish n Chips

At about 8.30 am we begin to gather at the Cafe Woodworks in Bungendore. The cafe had set up a long table at the back for the 21 of us from the Canberra Chapter doing this run to Mollymook. We had good weather, and we were pleased that it was about 7 degrees and not the minus 7 we had had in Canberra during the week.

As well several longer-term members it was good to see that there were a number of new faces. We endeavoured to make them feel as welcome as possible.

At about 9.30 we set off. As there was so many of us, we didn’t drive in convoy, but we made our own way travelling in small groups.

The Kings Highway has had a lot of repair work done on it over the last year. There were still some rough patches, including just before the Shoalhaven River bridge, just before Braidwood, at Misty Mountain and Nelligen. Traffic was reasonable, however, and we were only held up by temporary traffic lights once. The Princes Highway from Batemans Bay up to Mollymook was in good condition and there were no hold ups. We went through Ulladulla, which seems always crowded these days, on to Mollymook and the Mollymook Golf Club. We enjoyed the warmer temperature on the coast. Some even went top down.

We met up with several members of the south coast chapter and our numbers were now about thirty. The club bistro accommodated us at a long table with a great view of the ocean. It does have a spectacular view. Fish and chips was popular though there was choice on the menu. The food and company were great and a pod of dolphins put on a show for us after lunch.

After lunch we made our own way home.
