Nulon Nationals for 2015 has started and it will be run over 4 rounds next year.

Round 1 was a motorkhana style event held on Saturday 17th January at Sydney Motor Sport Park Eastern Creek)

Round 2 will be the Bulahdelah Hillclimb, with some big changes run over 2 days.

Round 3 will be at Wakefield Raceway on a weekend in July.

Round 4 will be at Cootamundra airport in September again, we will be running over 500M again, but NO DOUBLE POINTS.

There are 9 teams competing in the event with Nulon making a 10th team; RTDC,  MX-5 Club of NSW, 86 Drivers club, EvolutionOZ, SAU – NSW, Club Deutsche, Honda Owners Club, HSV, Aus Ford and Nulon

Round 1 has been run and what a day.

The MX5 Club team consisted of Verne Johnson, Glenn Thomas, Todd Herring, David Lawler and Scotty Gibbs, with me as Team Manager

It was great to see a lot of last year’s competition return and take up the old rivalries’.

The day was a motorkhana event run over 8 different courses head to head with an opposition car. It too  a little time to understand the system but once we had it mastered we were able to gain some good results. After the first round we were in 7th place (we were learning). After the 2nd round we were in 3rd place. Then we moved into 2nd place. From this position we tried to chase down the motorkhana experts, RTDC, andto  keep the 86 Drivers club behind us.

We were successful with keeping the 86 Drivers club in 3rd place but we couldn’t catch the RTDC club.

The final team results for the round are:-

  • 1st place RTDC :193 points
  • 2nd Place MX-5 Club of NSW: 165 points
  • 3rd place 86 Drivers club: 148 points
  • 4th place EvolutionOZ : 130 points
  • 5th place SAU - NSW : 120 points
  • 6th place Club Deutsche : 109 points
  • 6th place Honda Owners Club : 109 points
  • 8th place HSV : 41 points
  • 9th place Aus Ford : 20 points

In the individual awards, Scotty Gibbs took out the win for the fastest rear wheel drive car, and was also 2nd overall. Well done Scotty.

It was a big day and well run by the RTDC club. Some stats of the day are,

  • 50 competitors
  • 85+ show and shine cars
  • 900 times recorded
  • 100+ cones picked up
  • 782 people through the gate
  • 1 very happy clerk of course

Along with the motorkhana Nulon ran a Show and Shine event which was attended by a number of our members.
