I knew I was in strife when Jeff asked if I would do him a favour. !!

Turns out he wanted me to write a short report on our next mid week outing.

How could you say ‘ no ‘  to the CONVENOR ????????

So, here goes .

Wednesday 27 th March saw thirty three eager enthusiasts in sixteen MX5s gather at Hayward's Bay, for an early meet & drive to Nowra.

Our destination was the Shoalhaven River Wharf, where we were to embark for a cruise to the upper reaches of the river towards Coolendel.

Our intrepid leaders for the day, ( Jeff & Pam ) outdid them selves by getting us there safe & sound, via the spectacular roads thru Kiama & Gerringong. As usual, the Kiama Bends got into the drivers heads, with lots of suggestions coming from my co- driver. !!!

They were able to negotiate an even better price on the day, ( for the cruise & exclusive use of the boat, ) due to our number of passengers, & also their great negotiating skills. This meant we had the run of the boat, & plenty of room to mix & mingle.

The scenery was fantastic, the weather cool & the river very peaceful & calm. Morning tea & coffee, with biscuits & lamington’s were served by the crew, & were much appreciated.

Cruising up the river was a good time to chat with friends & to meet up with some new members on their first outings with the club. Everyone was talking about the great drive down & our good fortune with the weather, ( no rain ).

Although the rain threatened at times, Jeff must have had a good weather report, as he was confident enough to bring out the black MX5.

After disembarking at the wharf, we headed off to the Bomaderry Bowling club for lunch, a short ten minute drive. There was a small mutiny at the wharf after Jeff gave his directions to the club, when the lady crew member, a local, suggested an alternative route.

Off course, half of us went Jeff’s way, with the mutineers taking the alternate way. Needless to say, we all arrived safe & within minutes of each other. SORRY JEFF !!!

After a nice lunch & more coffee, with lots of MX 5 talking, we all bid farewell till the next outing, & headed off home.

Another great day out in our favourite cars. Nice work Jeff & Pam.
