Our favourite toy on four wheels was launched 25 years ago with the iconic NA sports car. We are all forever indebted to Bob Hall, our Club’s Patron and member since 1994 who conceived and pushed the concept, designer Tom Matano with Toshihiko Hirai and the dedicated team from Mazda who between 1983 and 1989 made jinba ittai a reality wth the new ND due for release later this year.

For the 25th Anniversary of the MX-5, the Club has organised a brunch starting from 10:00am at Tatler Wines at 477 Lovedale Road, Lovedale in the Lower Hunter Valley on Sunday 17 August 2014 hosted by the Hunter Chapter. The brunch is scheduled to finish by 12 noon to allow the café to set up for their luncheon trade and members to join the Hunter Chapter for their run back to the Central Coast. The cost is $25.00 a head for a buffet brunch. The numbers are limited to registered guests through the Club’s booking facility on this post.

Apart from a fun run to the venue, the good company of fellow enthusiasts and a hearty brunch to help out the local FS, the Hunter Chapter is attempting to line up one NA, NB & NC in each colour released in Australia along the road between the parking area and café on the vineyard in honour of the world’s most popular sports car. If you would like to contribute your MX-5 for the show and photo shoot then please contact Mark Gray on 0477 090 538 or email hunter@mx5.com.au .

In 2009 the BreakFast Club hosted a run for the 20th Anniversary of the launch of the MX-5 and attracted 73 MX-5s and 93 guests for breakfast. The Club hopes to do better on this anniversary. All members and chapters in the Club are invited with a big roll up expected.

Update 8th August: Last night we reached our cap of 100 brunch bookings. Tatlers have allowed us to increase to a maximum of 120 bookings. Our on-line booking system has been reopened for the remaining 20 places. Book now or you will miss out!

Update 11th August: Bookings are now CLOSED. A total of 115 people have purchased tickets for brunch. Those who missed out on brunch tickets are still very welcome to join the various runs, and to stay on at Tatlers for a look at the huge collection of MX-5s and chat with other club members.

The Club is offering the option of five runs to the event.

  1. An overnight package at the Adamstown Motel starting with a scenic run from the Pie in the Sky at Cowan on Saturday afternoon with Hunter Chapter;
  2. A very early Saturday run from McDonalds Panthers with the RPM Chapter at 6:00am;
  3. An early Saturday run from McDonalds McGraths Hill up the Putty Road with the BreakFast Club at 7.00am;
  4. A later run from McDonalds Mt Colah at 8:15am with the Sydney Chapter up the Pacific Highway and M1 through Cessnock.
