The Running of the Sheep is just one part of the Boorowa Irish Woolfest, which will feature all sorts of warm and woolly things including the blessing of the shears, shearing demonstrations, a street parade and boutique markets. The whole darn thing was pushed aside by that nasty nasty virus over the last couple of years, but there should be little doubt that the locals of Boorowa intend to give this year’s efforts an extra shove.

Three of our Club’s chapters – South Coast, Illawarra, and RPM – have planned a visit to the area to coincide with the festival and, especially, the Running of the Sheep. We’re gonna join them.

Peter & Annemie have put together a nice run with a pleasant picnic by the Boorowa River.

At this stage, Peter plans to head directly to Boorowa from Canberra so we have time to wander the place (and test our wallet reserves at the markets). It is likely to be a little busy in the cafes, so we’ll picnic in the park before heading off home, through Galong so we can grab some photos of some of the golden canola crops that are in the region.

Run Grade: This is a ‘Long’ run (around 300 kms), suitable for all drivers. The run features some narrow country roads and a few winding bits. There may be some rough bitumen and a few potholes to dodge. The Club’s Grading System is described at https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings.
