Wombat Wombling
This run has been on the calendar a few times under the very capable leadership of John Chapuis. This time, a change in the organiser with a shorter route to the destination.
Wombat is a dot on the map, just up the road from Wallendbeen, and not too far from Nubba or Murringo. But it’s home to a great little pub complete with a ‘history wall’ that will tell you all there is to know about the locality. On arrival in Wombat, you will enjoy a counter lunch at a ridgy-didge Aussie country pub (first trading in 1877, it is reputed to have the longest running continuous liquor licence in NSW).
After a coffee at Daughters, the run will take us via Barton & Hume Hwys, Lachlan Valley Way, Cunningar, Moppity and Barwang Roads to Harden. From Harden an easy drive of 21kms to Wombat. After lunch, a drive back to Harden, then Burley Griffin Way to the Hume Hwy. If time permits, an afternoon caffeine hit in Yass before the run via Barton Hwy to home.
All up, a return trip of around 280 kms on terrific country roads.

Run Grade: This is a ‘long’ run, suitable for most drivers. It features generally sound but narrow and sometimes twisty roads. The Club’s Grading System is described at https://nsw.mx5.com.au/events/important-information/run-gradings.
