I've owned this MX-5 since new and it is the 5th MX-5 I've owned. I'm only selling because my 6th MX-5 is coming soon and I'm very sad to be letting this one go as it's been a loyal plaything for almost 11 years.
This was the first ND delivered to an Australian customer - I took delivery from Blue Mountains Mazda on 5 August 2015, the same day as the national dealer launch of the ND in Noosa.
I am a Life Member of the Mazda MX-5 Club of NSW, and Committee Member for over 15 years. I have a highly public profile and you can be assured of my honesty and integrity when buying from me.
The Good
An absolute gem to drive Perfect for people of all ages who enjoy driving P-plater friendly as it has only 96kW and two seats Flawless mechanical reliability
Serviced every 10,000km with a Mazda dealer until 170,000km and a local mechanic since then.
Zero gutter rash on the original wheels
Never crashed or repaired
Highly economical - my lifetime average fuel consumption is 6.0L/100km on 95 Premium
Unmodified except for silver rollover hoop covers replacing the stock black plastic items
Great condition for its age and it looks gorgeous!
The Bad
Stone chips! The combination of notoriously thin Soul Red paint that chips easily and my daily driving to the Southern Highlands, means that the front of the car has many stone chips. Check the photos for examples. It's not concerned me as the car has been driven not babied. I have been quoted about $4000 for a front respray if this concerns you.
The Bluetooth module of the basic head unit died a couple years ago. The car has a removable Bluetooth display instead, which provides Android Auto for Google Maps, music streaming and phone connection.
Slight wear marks on the soft-top where it rubs when closed (see photos). The soft-top was replaced twice under warranty for this issue.
