Canberra Capers Weekend

The Drive
We will make our circuitous way from Haywards Bay to Canberra via Wingello and Bungendore before skirting around the southern parts of Canberra. We'll enjoy the fabulous driving roads around Cotter Reserve and Mount Stromlo before arriving at our overnight digs.
Haywards Bay to Wingello
Morning tea will be at Wingello Village Store. Arrive at 10:00, depart at 11:00.
Wingello to Bungendore
Lunch will be at The George Bar & Dining (booked for 1pm). Arrive at 12:30, depart at 2:00.
Bungendore to Narrabundah via Tidbinbilla and Black Mountain
A brief stop at Black Mountain Lookout. Arrive at hotel 4:00.
Accommodation
Our accommodation will be at Best Western Plus Garden City Hotel at Narrabundah. The hotel is next door to our dinner venue and only a short 150m walk. There are NO rooms reserved. I attempted to negotiate a group booking but they insisted that they "don't do that". So ... you need to book directly with the hotel via their website. Click this link.
The non-refundable Saver rate for a Standard Room with 1 Queen Bed is $129 (2 adults). Many other options and room levels are available to suit your personal preference. If you can find a cheaper deal elsewhere, please feel free to use that option.
Weihnachten im Juli
Dinner is booked for 7pm at Knuckles Restaurant in The Harmonie German Club. Click the link for the Menu. Knuckles Restaurant is the place for traditional Bavarian style food, with fully imported beer to compliment your meal you would be excused for thinking you were in down town Munich. There could be no better place to enjoy Christmas in July, Bavarian style!
The restaurant is famous for their signature Pork Knuckles served with mashed potato, red cabbage & sauerkraut, fried onions, and red wine sauce ($32). These knuckles take approximately 4.5 hours to prepare, and we need to pre-order them. Please indicate on the booking form if you want to order knuckles.
Return trip on Sunday
Lazy breakfast and shopping at Manuka. Choose your own venue.
Depart Manuka by 11:00am, arriving at Four Winds Vineyard, Murrumbateman for wine-tasting and wood-fired pizza lunch. Booked for 11:45am. Make your own way home from Murrumbateman via Hume Highway.
