We are off to the nation's Capital City, Canberra. If you haven’t visited the Capital or explored the roads surrounding Canberra, this is the trip for you. Although this is a multi day run, you can join us for any part or section of this trip. For example, you might join the run to Bungendore Woodworks for lunch on Day 1.
Accommodation is at the Abode in Tuggeranong (150 Anketell St, Greenway) You DO NOT need to book. (Rose has booked six rooms.) Day 1:Tuesday - 20 February
- We will start with morning tea at Coffee on the Double. This is in the Big Red Bus located in Schutz landscape centre) https://www.facebook.com/coffeeonthedouble/.
- Lunch - WoodworksCafe, Bungendore. Cafe by Day – Café Wood Works, followed by a browse (and possible purchases) through the Woodworks and the specialty shops in Bungendore.
- Googong Dam. If this rain continues, it will be an amazing view.
- Arrive at our destination: Abode Tuggeranong

Day 2: Wednesday - 21 February
- NOTE: Both of the morning tea cafes on this route are temporarily closed. You will need to either bring your morning tea with you or purchase it at the SouthPoint shopping precinct which is on your doorstep.
- Morning tea will be at the Cotter Dam. This is a beautiful spot and worth a short walk to the dam wall, or for the more energetic to the top of the wall.
- Lunch: Four Winds Vineyard. You can enjoy a lunch of wood-fired pizzas or build your own platter from a selection of gourmet items from the deli fridge. Pizza dough is made fresh daily. You might like to try a local ‘Tasting Flight’ to complement your lunch.

- Old Parliament House (Museum of Australian Democracy). We can either do a self guided tour or a tour with a guide. This decision will be made when we know who is coming on the run. https://moadoph.gov.au/
- Dinner: Canberra Bar and Grill. This is about a 13 min walk. (950m) https://www.canberrabargrill.com.au/menu/ This venue has nibbles and larger meals so….. depending on how hungry we are after lunch at the winery we can eat here or opt for an alternative eating style.

Day 3: Thursday - 22 February
Embassy Driving Tour: Canberra is home to nearly 80 embassies and high commissions. Most are in the suburb of Yarralumla. See how many countries you can name just by the architecture!
- Morning tea: National Arboretum. Parking is $2:20 per hour. The Arboretum cafe has fantastic views across Canberra. There are over 44,000 rare and endangered trees across a 250-hectare site. Take a walk (it’s very hilly) or just have a look. Outside the cafe is a pavilion of magnificent bonsai’s - free entry.

- Mt Ainslee Lookout - great view over Lake Burley Griffin and the National Triangle. If we are running late, the lookout drive will be after the War Memorial Visit.
- War Memorial:
- 2:00pm - 4:00pm - Two hour tickets (free) have been booked for the Galleries and Commemorative Area. Includes access to Aircraft Hall, Hall of Valour, First World War Galleries, Second World War Galleries and the Commemorative Area (includes the Hall of Memory, Roll of Honour, Pool of Reflection and Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier.
- 4:00 - 5:00pm. Last Post ceremony is a ticketed event (free).Each night, wreaths are laid and the story behind one of the names on the Roll of Honour is shared.
