Join us for a few days travelling through the beautiful Victorian High Country and the Snowy Mountains. Invigorating mountain air and some exciting mountain roads should make for a great trip.
Due to interest shown by other chapters, we have decided to start the run at Narooma. This will allow Illawarra chapter people an easy evening run down the coast for an overnight stay in Narooma. Narooma is a little over 3 hours from Wollongong and a little under 3 from Canberra. Sydney siders will need to add another hour. Canberra people also have the option of joining us at our lunch stop in Bombala, a little under 2 ½ hours drive.
Monday, 19th April – For those of you who are planning to travel down to Narooma prior to the commencement of the trip, accommodation in Narooma has been arranged at Amooran Oceanside Motel, Narooma at $150-$160 per night: https://www.amooran.com.au Please phone 02 4476 2198 to select your room and secure your booking. Day One, Tuesday, 20th April: Narooma to Metung via Bega Valley and Bombala, along the Monaro Highway. Starting from the Surf Beach Café next to the Narooma Surf Club, we will proceed through the Bega Valley and up Brown’s Mountain to the Monaro Highway and down to Bombala for lunch. After lunch we will continue to Metung for dinner and our overnight stay at Metung Waters Motel and Apartments: https://metungwaters.com.au/ . 12 rooms have been reserved at $145-$175 per night. Day Two, Wednesday, 21st April: We plan a casual breakfast and an opportunity to look around the lovely lakeside town of Metung. Departing mid morning we will proceed to Bright with a lunch stop and walk around at Omeo. Arrival in Bright is planned for mid afternoon to allow time for browsing the shops or resting in the garden of the craft brewery. Day Three, Thursday, 22nd April: Bright to Jindabyne. We plan an early start with Morning tea at Tallangatta and lunch at the Wild Brumby Distillery at Jindabyne. For those wishing to go to work on Monday, you have an easy afternoon drive back to Canberra or Wollongong, for the others a pleasant afternoon in Jindabyne with a light dinner in the Banjo Patterson bistro. Day Four, Friday, 23rd April: For those who have stuck around for the night, we plan a gentle drive back through Dalgety and the Bega Valley with a stop over in Tilba for lunch and maybe a cheese tasting.
