Illawarra Rhododendron and Rainforest Gardens
As Rectory Gardens do not reopen until 2025, the search was on for another beautiful garden to visit. The Illawarra Rhododendron and Rainforest Gardens are a perfect alternative. The gardens are split into two sections across 14 hectares. In the Lower Gardens you will find rhododendrons, camelias, magnolias, acers…… and in the Upper Garden are old growth trees and natives.
Morning tea will be at the Blue Jay Cafe in Albion Park. You might prefer to have a substantial brunch here as there is no cafe in the Gardens. Alternatively, pack a picnic to have for lunch in the gardens…there are many beautiful locations to relax.
For the walkers and gardeners there are many tracks and trails to explore. For those who prefer a little less activity, find a spot to sit with friends and chat or bring along a book to read in this beautiful environment.
Don't forget your hat, sunscreen, sun glasses and water...... or something else to satisfy your thirst.
