MSCA Come and Try Day - Philip Island
For those heading down to Philip Island for the Interstate Challenge on the 6th December, MSCA (Marque Sports Car Association) are running a come and try day on Saturday the 5th December.
This could be a useful introduction to Philip Island for those who haven't done it before, or want to get some practice in before the Interstate Challenge the next day (not that we are competitive or anything).
Philip Island is a long drive for us so having two days on the circuit may make it more worthwhile.
Entry is via the Motorsport Australia portal that we all know and love.
Those that have used the new MA portal will know that you have to open the various documents before you are allowed to say that you accept the document. For some reason, I got stuck in an endless loop when trying to read the supp regs - the system seemed to want me to log into my Microsoft account, which didn't work. Don't worry - it that happens, just close that window and you will be able to accept the supp regs. I have uploaded a copy and linked it below as you should read them.
Just be aware that this is really an (un-timed) training day - it is not a free for all test and tune day.
By that I mean it has a specific format :
- 2 un-timed, non-competitive instruction sessions (Entrant driving with MSCA instructor in their car).
- 1 un-timed, non-competitive instruction session (Entrant a passenger in their instructor’s car)
- 1 solo session.
- This Event will have Instructors in vehicles.
Sessions are 15 minutes
Not sure what that means for those of us with race cars with no passenger seat.
Instructor un-timed passenger sessions will be limited to 80% normal pace with no passing in corners.
There is no (official) timing.
Flag points will not be manned.
Garages are not available (unfortunately).
Car number are supplied.
I strongly recommend that you read the supplementary regulations as there are a few differences.
Entries close on November 30.
