Who doesn’t like a morning blast up north to the spectacular Shoal Bay? This return run will have the Sydney siders meeting at Mount Colah McDonalds at the brisk old time of 6am for a 6:30 departure.  After a quick coffee and chat we will hit the road.

Chris will take us north along the Old Pacific Highway, over the Brooklyn Bridge and up the other side to Calga. Instead of heading back on the not very exciting freeway we will be taking a slight detour though the Yarramalong Valley, taking in the smell and sound of the fresh morning air.

As the road through the valley comes to an end, we will be merging onto the Freeway for a blast up to the turnoff just past Black Hill. A quick right at the round-a-bout will have us heading up and over the Hexham Bridge and toward Tomago Drive.

At Tomago Drive we will be joining  up with members of the Hunter Chapter (Approx 8.15-8.30am)  and continue up through the recent bush fire ravaged landscape on to Nelson Bay Road and then straight to the coast.

Breakfast will be served at the Catch Deck

After the stomachs have been charged and the caffeine has been consumed, it’s now time to jump back in the cars, throw that roof down and turn up the music we are heading for some twisties!

We will head back over the Hexham Bridge, take a right at the lights and make our way through Kurri Kurri and Cessnock to Wollombi Road. After a blast through the State Forest we will pass the famous Wollombi Pub and turn on to the Great North Road/ George Downs Drive. This will have us getting closer to Sydney and some more familiar territory. Up and over Mangrove Mountain and back down to Calga to jump back onto the Freeway. The run will end with us all consuming a pie at the Famous Pie in the Sky at Cowan.
