2017/2018 Track Day Entry Fees
28 June 2017 / Ian Combes
Dear MX-5 Club motorsport competitors
During the current competition year (which ended with the SMSP South circuit on the 24th June), the Club has been looking at the balance sheets of the practice days that the Club runs at Wakefield Park and Sydney Motorsport Park.
Whilst these track days are always well supported by club members, with most events being booked out in advance, the cash flow of these events have been eroded over the last few years by a relentless increase in costs. The main contributing factor has been the 23% increase in the cost of hiring the Wakefield Park circuit, where the majority of the club’s track days are held.
As competitors in the Club’s track days would know, the club has also raised the standard of our practice days by enlisting professional timing services to provide more reliable timing, and professional fire & rescue services to enhance the enjoyment and safety of drivers.
The Club has not substantially changed the entry fees for our track days for many years (the fire&rescue was passed on - $10), but following a careful review, the committee has decided that a revision in entry fees must be made for the 2017/2018 competition year.
The entry fees for weekend track days at Wakefield Park and SMP-South from July 2017 will be as follows:
$190 (early bird for club member)
$220 (standard entry fee for club member)
$225 for visitors
For our Monday track days at Wakefield Park, the entry prices will be as follows:
$160 (early bird for club member)
$190 (standard entry fee for club member)
$195 for visitors
It is worth noting that these entry prices are very reasonable compared to what other clubs are now charging – the MX-5 Club of NSW is still cheaper than other clubs, and of course, we still run the best events!
The decision to increase entry fees was not an easy one, but it will help to ensure that the Club is well-positioned to continue providing top-class events into the future.
