A New Start to A New Finish

This turned out to be one of those runs that you are really happy you organized.

It had rained the day before and as many of you know I don’t like to take my car out in the rain. I’d had the car for about five years before having to use the Windscreen Wipers in anger. Anyway, as luck would have it the weather on the day of this run was a perfect Autumn Day. Sunny with a light breeze and great top-down weather.

Our morning tea and starting point was Passionate Palate in Kanahooka. I was concerned about how crowded it may be as there was another group booked in there that morning. What about finding a park? This is always an issue on any day. I shouldn’t have worried, the service from the staff was great and everyone found a park.

The drive turned out to be great along the old roads and through the National Park with the sun shining through the trees drying the road with steam lifting up. Everything looked clean and green after the rain.

We stopped at the Bald Hill Lookout. The view was spectacular as always. I counted twelve cargo ships waiting off the Port Kembla Harbor and another car carrier arriving. To top off the view we sighted Whales just off the coast heading North for the Winter. A bonus.

Wombarra Bowling Club, our lunch venue, despite its dated decor was welcoming and our meals were, I’m happy to say, enjoyable.

What really made this a really happy and enjoyable day was the members that joined us. Many are regulars at events with the Illawarra Chapter, others have not joined for some time due to other commitments. We all know what it’s like you can’t do everything. Catching up with friends we haven’t seen for some time over a meal and wine, beer or coffee certainly passes the time. With all the chatter that went on it seemed that everyone had a lot to share and talk about.

Thank you to all that joined us.
