A pleasant day out.

Run, Run to Robertson.
Gary Joss and Ron Gallop joined up to create a quiet, Thursday run to the Southern Highlands and the early Autumn scenery. After some issues finding a suitable. available venue the Robertson Inn showed promise.
Eleven old friends joined the run with nine of us unable to bypass breakfast at Settlers. Heading south on Mulgoa Road then up the hill west toward Silverdale, Gary ensured we weren’t breaking the new speed limits. The road through Silverdale has recently been upgraded, now being the best road on the trip rather than the worst. Straight south through the Oaks, another old country village that is starting to show signs of Sydney expansion, then onto Montpelier Drive.
The traffic on the day before Good Friday was much heavier than usual with all of us caught behind a caravan following the “double demerits rule” of travelling at least 20k below any speed limit. Cruising down the hill on Bakers Lodge Road we finally lost the “moving roadblock” as we headed in for a comfort stop at Maccas. Meeting up with Helen and John we turned right into Argyle Street through Picton. It’s hard to imagine but I can remember this being one of the main North-South roads from Sydney to the South Coast. Picton has become a thriving little town with many small businesses adding to the slow moving traffic.
Gary took us through the verdant green tablelands using many well-known roads via Kangaloon and suddenly turning Left onto the Illawarra Highway at Robertson.
The Robertson Inn is a popular eating spot for locals and tourists alike with standard fare along with some specialised meals like Goat Curry and Lamb Stew. A range of local and common beers complement the meals. Taking time to take a brief walk through town I came across some interesting shops and of course the big (pink) potato.
As the afternoon fun wore on some of us slowly decided to take our leave and find our own way home. We decided to see more of the area including beautiful Bowral and Mittagong.
Thanks to Ron and Gary for a great run, run.
