Andy and Vicki's farewell

The first Sunday of the month is usually a familiar ritual for the MX‑5 Club Sydney Chapter - engines cooling in the car park, coffee in hand, and the easy chatter of friends who’ve shared countless kilometres together. But yesterday’s meet‑up at Pie in the Sky had a different energy. A bigger crowd, a touch more emotion, and a sense that we were marking the end of an era.
More than 40 members rolled in, filling the lookout with colour and conversation. They weren’t just there for the usual catch‑up - they were there for Andy and Vicki.
For years, Andy and Vicki have been woven into the fabric of the Sydney Chapter. Andy, especially, has been a driving force: a convenor, an organiser, a steady hand who helped build the chapter into the vibrant, welcoming community it is today. Vicki has been right there beside him - supportive, involved, and always part of the heartbeat of our runs.
Now they’re off to Forster, trading familiar roads for new ones.
To honour everything they’ve given, the club presented them with a photobook filled with memories - snapshots of runs, events, laughter, and the unmistakable joy that comes from MX‑5 adventures shared with good people. There was cake, of course, and plenty of stories swapped as everyone gathered around to celebrate them.
It was a proper send‑off - heartfelt, warm, and full of appreciation.
And while they’re heading north, no one believes this is goodbye. We fully expect to see them pop up on future runs, slipping back into the convoy like they never left.
They will be missed. But they will always be part of us.
