Burn to Bendooley Estate
14 June 2023
It was that time of year again and the Southcoast Chapter headed into the highlands for lunch at Bendooley Estate in Berrima.
Three cars, Geoff & Rose, Anne & Graeme and Paul, met up at Tomerong and were joined by two more cars, Sue & Martin, Jonnie & Tony, at the start of Nowra Road in Bomaderry.
We headed off towards Kangaroo Valley and just as the road got interesting came across a little old lady (LOL) in a red Mazda 2. She set a blistering pace, 20km/h in the bends and a reckless 30km/h in the straights.
By the time we all passed the LOL and navigated the continuous roadworks it was time for a coffee break at Kangaroo Valley in a lovely sandstone building which was the old English, Scottish and Australian Bank. Both the company and the coffee were great. As we left the café who should tootle through the main street? You guessed it, LOL had caught up to us.
After looking for our cars in the wrong car park we managed to head off towards Bendooley enjoying the beautiful southern highlands along the way.
Lunch at Bendooley was excellent as always, as was a browse through the extensive collection in the book barn.
Sue and Martin had a better offer, so they left us at Bendooley Estate. The rest of us decided to take the scenic route home via Kangaloon Road, Robertson then Myra Vale Road to re-join the Nowra Road for the return journey back through Kangaroo Valley.
Another great day for the South Coast chapter!
