Coffs Coast and Inland Run, 16-17 October 2024

On the 16th October, with overcast weather threatening, seven couples drove from Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Armidale & South West Rocks to Nambucca Heads for a scrumptious morning tea on the Nambucca River at Wharf Street Cafe. Kevin & Jennifer from Armidale stayed the previous night in Nambucca and enjoyed the local hospitality and scenic views of the area. Wayne our photographer snapped several shots of our group and the beautiful Nambucca River. Robert & Rhonda (our leaders) led the way through to Coffs Harbour trying not to lose anyone while avoiding the traffic build up due to the construction of the new Coffs Bypass. We drove the scenic route to Sealy Lookout and then onto Coramba Hotel via Bucca Road & East Bank Road for a lovely lunch. Graham & Cath commented the countryside of Coramba reminded them of Bellbrook where they previously owned a farming property.  After enjoying Coramba hospitality John led us to Nana Glen, Glenreagh to Parker Road and Halfway Creek eventually to Woolgoolga Headland where we witnessed many whales breaching in the ocean. That evening the Park Beach Bowling Club put on a wonderful dinner before we walked home in the rain a short distance to our accommodation at the Royal Palms Motor Inn.

Thursday morning we awoke to beautiful sunshine and drove to Coffs Harbour Surf Club for a scrumptious breakfast overlooking the surfing beaches of Coffs. After breakfast in convoy we followed Robert & Rhonda to the Jetty precinct onto the South Wall, Gallows Beach and then onto Beacon Hill Lookout overlooking the Marina, Jetty and airport. After a photo session with Wayne we continued onto the new National Holden Museum and Bunker Cartoon Gallery. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful exhibition of Holden cars. Robert & Rhonda then escorted us all to their lovely acreage home at Bonville, where we all declined a game of tennis, but admired the beautiful manicured gardens that they work hard to maintain. Allan & Pam, Greg, Kevin & Jennifer, John & Jennene, Wayne & Cathy, Graham & Cath and Robert & Rhonda drove to Coffs Harbour Yacht Club for a delicious lunch overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. At 2pm the rally concluded with hugs all round as we said our goodbyes and all headed home after two great days of fun, companionship, adventure, cars and food !!

Many thanks to Rob and Rhonda for organising and leading our group. Great job!
