Organiser and Run leader – Robert & Rhonda Partridge

A spectacular late winter morning had 5 MX5’s set out from Port’s Donut to the M1 with a quick diversion up the Kempsey off ramp to collect the 2 locals and back on the highway. The M1 is great for covering distance but how boring is it for MX5’s. All the ducks kept in a row sitting right on the speed limits due to the abundance of always present safety officers.

Raleigh for the general meet up and morning tea at the “Raleigh Winery” had 12 MX5’s and 20 participants. For our Chapter this was a great turnout. As all our runs are food fests, this was no exception with a smorgasbord of bacon & egg rolls, scones jam & cream, fresh fruit with tea and coffee all laid on.

To finish off, a rendition of Scotland the Brave by Robert on the bagpipes had everyone rushing for the cars for rapid departure trying to avoid all the escaping cats and patrons from the Winery.

The run through Coffs was the usual nightmare trying to keep the group somewhat intact. The run up through the Coffs hinterland is spectacular with well maintained narrow, tight twisty roads. Roberts plan to use back roads for the run saw a few missed turns, lost MX5’s and a mass u turn a few k’s from the called turnoff. Not to be deterred Robert managed to get the group reassembled for the run through Nanaglen to the “Coramba Hotel”. The hotel had arranged for special parking for our group at the rear of the hotel with reserved seating for the usual lunch pig-out.

A well organised and attended run from the Coffs contingent.

Many thanks to Robert and Rhonda for organising and leading the run.

A special thanks again to Wayne for the great photos.
