Driver Training Day 30th March 2025 - Pheasant Wood Circuit:

Our first time on track – and what a day it was! Jemma and I joined the Mazda MX-5 Club of NSW at the Pheasant Wood Circuit in Marulan for a driver training day, and despite the patchy rain and a damp, unpredictable track, the atmosphere was nothing short of fantastic.

The circuit, located just 90 minutes south of Sydney, is a closed, purpose-built facility designed specifically for driver education, and it provided the perfect setting to build confidence and skill in a safe, controlled environment.

The day began with an excellent theory session delivered by Bryan Shedden, who shared practical tips on track driving, safety, and car control. His advice really set the tone for the day ahead.

This was a particularly special day for Jemma. As a junior driver who only recently earned her P plates a few weeks ago, this was her first experience on a racetrack. With guidance from supportive advisors during the day, she quickly began to feel comfortable and capable. The wet conditions made it a challenge, but also a valuable learning opportunity. By the end of the day, she had gained a huge amount of confidence and car control—skills that will undoubtedly benefit her everyday driving on public roads.

There was a great turnout, and the vibe was welcoming, encouraging, and full of shared enthusiasm. No lap timing, no pressure—just learning, improving, and having fun. We will both be back for the next one without hesitation!
