Drivers Run 3
13-14 October, 2026
Five MX-5s gathered on a rainy Tuesday morning at the Heritage Bakery in Milton for the final Drivers Run of 2026. Despite the less-than-perfect weather, spirits were high, and after the obligatory coffee and pastries, we hit the road and headed south towards Narooma.
Keeping five cars together proved a bit of a challenge, with the seemingly endless roadworks doing their best to separate the convoy. However, we all managed to make it to Narooma, where we stopped for another coffee and met up with Chris, ready to continue our journey south to Pambula.
The Wild Rye Bakery in Pambula was our next stop and the perfect place to pull in for lunch. With everyone fed and watered, we filled the fuel tanks and prepared for what would be one of the highlights of the trip — the run up Mount Darragh Road to Nimmitabel.
Mount Darragh Road is a fantastic MX-5 road, with plenty of bends to keep the drivers happy, mixed with some beautiful scenery along the way. The only thing missing was a clear run, as a slow-moving cattle truck put a bit of a damper on our enthusiasm! Nevertheless, we all made it safely to Nimmitabel, where our hosts, Dianne and Grant, welcomed us to the Royal Arms B&B.
After settling in, we took a walking tour of Nimmitabel's sights, including the famous Nimmitabel Tower. The chilly conditions soon encouraged us back to the sunny verandah of the Royal Arms, where a glass of Shiraz helped fuel discussions about the day's adventures and other matters of great importance!
With the fire lit, dinner served and another bottle of wine opened, we settled in for a relaxing evening. It was a great way to finish off a day of driving, good food and even better company.
Wednesday morning arrived with a rather brisk temperature of -6.7°C. That certainly put the meaning of a cool drivers run into perspective! Undeterred by the frost, we dropped the roofs and headed off towards Cooma, continuing on to Tuggeranong for a well-earned morning tea stop.
Our final destination was the Nerriga Pub, where we gathered for lunch before saying our goodbyes and heading off in our various directions for home.
And so, another successful South Coast MX-5 Drivers Run came to an end. A little rain, plenty of bends, good food, great company and a memorable overnight stay made this a fitting finale to our 2026 driving adventures.
Another great Drivers Run - one we can't wait to do again!
