Nurbushring and Wootton Way
Members gathered at Riverside Park, Raymond Terrace, on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, looking forward to an enjoyable day’s motoring along the roads affectionately known as the Nurbushring and Wootton Way.
Although the morning began with rain, the weather soon improved and certainly did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the thirteen cars taking part.
Led by Lilo and Brian, the group departed Raymond Terrace, travelling along East Seaham Road, Limeburners Creek Road, The Bucketts Way and Booral Road before arriving at Bulahdelah for a morning tea break at Wade Park.
Lilo had generously supplied an abundance of delicious home-baked treats, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. It was a lovely opportunity for members to catch up, chat and enjoy each other’s company before continuing the journey.
Following morning tea, it was time for the highlight of the drive – the 22-kilometre stretch of winding road through the beautiful eucalyptus forest along Wootton Way. With its sweeping bends and picturesque surroundings, the road provided plenty of driving enjoyment and certainly lived up to its Nurbushring nickname!
A photo stop towards the end of the route gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs, admire the scenery and share their thoughts about what had been a particularly enjoyable section of the drive.
After the obligatory photos, we joined the A1 and continued to our lunch destination, the Artisan Farmers Market at Nabiac. This proved to be a popular and busy eatery, providing a fitting end to a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Following lunch, members made their own way home. Many took advantage of the newly completed M1 bypass, avoiding Raymond Terrace, Heatherbrae and Hexham and making for a much quicker journey home.
Another great Hunter Chapter day out, combining enjoyable driving roads, beautiful scenery, good food and, most importantly, great company!
