Lunch Run to Pelican Rocks

9 March 2023

What a lovely way to spend a day today! 12 of us met up at The Log Cabin, Tomerong looking forward to a drive, food, drive, treats, drive, food. Huh! What's wrong with that? Works for us!! We all headed off ‘tops down' led by Bob D. through Nowra and over the nice new bridge to Cambewarra Lookout for our first need of sustenance and where 3 more Mxers joined us. Such a beautiful sunny day but a few cardigans came out due to a chilly breeze. However, the view as always was spectacular and the cameras were soon clicking. The coffee and tea are always good, as are the scones etc. which had to be sampled.

It was then onto Tourist Road and Kangaroo Valley Road into Berry. Doing their best to hide in the shadows, we still managed to find a few potholes with a thud...no damage done thankfully. It was through Berry in a nice line of 8 cars as we headed to the Treat Factory, where we were joined by Tony Badger from Illawarra chapter. They love us here as it seems we have several folk in need of 'sweet-tooth' medication. We all deserve a treat!!

It was off then to our final destination. We had another MX sneak into our little convoy on Coolangatta Road. Was that you Ian? Anyway, zooming along Bolong Road, beautiful countryside and past the ever-growing refinery to go back over the Nowra Bridge. After a short stop in Terara Road we were all back together to enjoy the zip up Millbank Road taking in the country life aromas and 'corn as high as an elephant's eye' which brought on the odd burst of song....

Thankfully a lot of road work has been done on the Greenwell Point Road and had us all arriving at our expected time to the extremely busy Pelican Rocks. Sam and his great team were soon taking orders for the now 19 of us, by this time Sue Monaghan had joined us. There wasn't a spare seat in the place but the drinks and food was very soon served and the great number system they have adopted made it so much easier for the waitress and to pay individually. All the meals looked scrumptious as usual, and everyone seemed to have enjoyed an elegant sufficiency.

We will all be back …...Another top run with our little cars and friends on a perfect weather day at perfect locations.
