Macleay Valley East to West
24 July 2024 / Mick Tux
On Sunday 21st July, twenty members in twelve cars joined in the run. Chris & Mick, David, Cath and Graham, Stephen, Vicki and Graham, Jane and Greg, John, Pam and Allen and Sheila met up at Oliver's Port Macquarie and in nine cars drove North to Kempsey then out to Gladstone where we were joined by hundreds of other people due to the MARKETS being on! This was despite Mick and Chris being told it would be Market day the following week.
Even though the town was packed we managed to find parking and had a lovely table reserved for us under a large tree in the back garden of ‘The Hub’, Gladstone. We were met there by Wayne and Cath, Rob, Rhonda, John and Jennene. Morning tea was great with lots of chatter.
When the time came to head off West we assembled out on the main road but Sheila didn’t show up to her car. Apparently she was searching for it in the wrong places! John waited for her and the rest headed off towards Bellbrook. Wayne and Cath took the lead and we travelled via South Kempsey for a special back road with plenty of twisties which led us onto the Armidale Road where we continued to the Bellbrook Hotel. John and Sheila had already arrived having taken a more direct route.
We had a big area with perfect seating out the back of the pub for our lunch which I think most agreed was pretty good. Lots more chatter and catching up was had, with Wayne taking his usual close ups.
The weather and company were great as was the drive. Thankyou to Wayne and Cath for taking us via the scenic route and Mick and Cath Tuck for organising and leading the run.
