Magical Mystery Tour to Mt Ridge
10 April, 2025
We were blessed with a magical, sunny and warm “tops down” day for Brian’s Magical Mystical Tour to a popular Shoalhaven winery, Mountain Ridge.
The 12 of us in 7 cars met in the carpark of North Nowra Hotel, a handy location when venturing north as it avoids the arduous task of keeping in convoy through Nowra CBD. Fred and Kim, Brian and Anda had already been on the road for an hour from Ulladulla. They were joined by Geoff and Rose, Bob and Linda who had driven from just south of Nowra and Kerry, Keith, Roger & Lesley from “just up the road”.
Our first port of call was a much appreciated coffee stop at the Lookout Cambewarra Cafe, always a favourite with its forever views. It was a pleasant start to the day as we sat and enjoyed the views and a catch up chat over a cup of coffee and a cake or scone.
Caffeinated, the fun began as Brian led us on our mystery route, which incidentally avoided the highway at all costs. We all appreciated the scenic and peaceful country drive up hill, down dale with a few squigglies in between down Kangaroo Valley Rd, Wattamolla Rd to Woodhill and on to the outskirts of Berry. On to Far Meadow, the familiar Bolong Rd, a left turn into Coolangatta Rd and before we knew it we had reached the winery. It was a short distance down the driveway amidst the grapevines to the carpark. Now it was lunchtime!
We enjoyed our lunch at an outdoor table for 12 overlooking the vineyards being guarded by the vineyard's trusty cattle dog, who loved the attention when thrown a stick.
A delicious light lunch, a glass of excellent wine – their Semillon was very good - and pleasant conversation completed yet another enjoyable outing with our MX5 friends.
