Meet the new generation Mazda MX-5

06 March 2015 / Mazda

At last, it's here!

At 11:05am on 4 September 2014 (our time), Mazda Design Director Derek Jenkins appeared on stage in Monterey, California to reveal the new generation Mazda MX-5. Simultaneous events also occurred at Tokyo and Barcelona. The US event was streamed live via YouTube to a peak audience of almost 30,000 viewers. Derek spoke for a few minutes about the key design features before Duran Duran appeared to play a few songs (A View To A Kill, Hungry Like the Wolf, All You Need is Now). We will have to wait for the specification details but what little is available is listed below. We also will have reports soon from Ben Sale, our man on the ground at Monterey.

For now, just enjoy the photos and watch the launch video. And start saving for late 2015 when the new MX-5 is expected to go on sale in Australia.

Below is the full 57min video from the Mazda Roadster Thanks Day in Tokyo, Japan.
