Club Track Day - Round 2 - Entries open but close soon
Entries are open for our 2nd track day of 2023 at the Pheasant Wood circuit near Marulan, on Sunday 26th March. This is a tight and challenging circuit and is well suited to MX-5s.

MX-5 Multi-Club Track Day at The Bend - Entries still open
Entries are still open for this track day at The Bend on Sunday 23rd April.
There are currently about 60 entries received, with approx 18 from members of the MX-5 Club of NSW, the majority of entries from the Vic & Tas MX-5 club and others from the SA MX-5 club.
Entry is open to all members of Australian state MX-5 clubs.

NSWRRC 6 Hour Team Regularity – Entries open
Each year a good number of teams of MX-5 Club drivers compete at the NSW Road Racing Club team regularity on the GP circuit at Sydney Motorsport Park. This year the event is on Saturday & Sunday 29th & 30th April. Entries are open. If you are interested in this event NOW is a good time to call around and put together a team.

NSW Supersprint – Round 2 – Sunday 2nd April
This event will be run on the SMSP North/Druitt circuit by NSWRRC.

Club Motorkhana - Round 1 – Saturday 11th March
The first club motorkhana for 2023 was run last Sunday at the Sydney Motorsport Park skidpan, with 35 drivers competing.

MX-5 Cup – Round 1 – Saturday 11th March
The 1st round of the 2023 MX-5 Cup championship was run at Sydney Motorsport Park GP Circuit on Saturday 11th March. There were 20 entrants, although only 19 presented for qualifying with Sarah Medley’s car having issues after a Friday practice session.

NSW Supersprint – Round 1 – Sunday 12th March
No official results have been published yet, but from the results on Natsoft there were 5 drivers representing the MX-5 Club with:
-
Ralph Thompson in Class 2S finishing 5th against a bunch of Porsches, a BMW and a Nissan GTR,
-
Ken Hardy & Gerald Drechsler finishing 4th and 6th in Class RM, and
-
Luke Kovacic finishing 1st in RR with David Alland in the pack.
In winning Class RR, Luke in his Toyota GR Yaris punched above his weight, as usual, beating a Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi Evo VII and a Subaru WRX, plus another 12 cars.
I note that track day regular Jie Ren won Class RM in his Toyota Supra, although he was representing ARDC.
Other News
New Owner of Wakefield Park
Steve Shelley, who is the owner of the Pheasant Wood Circuit near Marulan has announced on the Pheasant Wood facebook page that he has bought Wakefield Park and is keen and motivated to get the track operating again.
Given the progress that has been made with Pheasant Wood since he took over, we can only hope that same momentum can be channeled into reopening Wakefield Park.
