Motorsport Weekly Roundup - 2nd August 2023

Entries are low for the next club track day which is very disappointing, especially as we are competing at that event against members of the MX-5 Club of Victoria & Tasmania in the 2023 Interstate Challenge. I encourage all track day regulars to enter and give us the best chance of winning back the trophy this year as well as having a great day at the track.
The featured picture this week is of the Panorama Mountain Men team at Phillip Island, where they won their 3rd Victorian 6 Hour Regularity Relay, and their 3rd team regularity this year.
Upcoming Events
Club Motorkhana Round 2 at SMSP Skidpan – Sunday 6th August
The next club motorkhana is on this Sunday (6th August) at the Sydney Motorsport Park skidpan. If you still want to enter, you can do so, but it has to be done tomorrow (Thursday 3rd August). The event page is here.
Spectators are of course welcome, and there is no fee to watch, so if you want to see club members in action, or you are thinking about doing some motorsport, with the club’s motorkhana events being the ideal starting point in motorsport, it could be a good opportunity to come along and see how it is done.
Entry to Sydney Motorsport Park is off Ferrers Road at Eastern Creek.
Club Track Day Round 5 and Interstate Challenge at Pheasant Wood – Sunday 13th August
In just over a week we have the 5th and last round of the annual Track Day Championship plus the NSW/Vic Interstate Challenge on at Pheasant Wood.
Entries are open here, and will be closing early next week, so get your entry in now.
CALLING ALL TRACK DAY DRIVERS.
We at the NSW MX-5 club have not won the Interstate Challenge for a few years, so this time we are competing on home ground and at a track the Victorians have not visited before, so we have a great opportunity to bring the trophy back to NSW. So, if you want to help us win it back, please put in an entry and do your bit.
If you can’t drive then we can probably use your help as a flag marshal, so if you are available please contact me at competition@mx5.com.au.

Victorian 6 Hour Regularity Relay at Phillip Island – Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th July
The Victorian 6 Hour Regularity Relay was run last weekend at Phillip Island, with 28 teams entered and 2 of those teams, "Panorama Mountain Men" (PMM) and Just Regular Guys" (JRG), comprised of MX-5 Club of NSW members.
The PMM team were again successful at the 6 Hour, winning the event for the 3rd time, and bouncing back from a 2nd last year. This is also their 3rd win of a team regularity this year. The JRG team had to be satisfied with 5th place after a "controversial" penalty sank their chances of a repeat of their win in 2022.
The win by PMM also means they take out the Motorsport Australia Victorian Regularity Relay Series win in 2023, based on results from the Sandown 360 and Victorian 6 Hour events.
There is a news item on the Motorsport Australia website which includes an interview with Stewart Temesvary, the driving force behind the PMM team.
