Farewell to Russ Maxwell – Sunday 11th June

Lou Iezzi has organised a get together to remember Russ and celebrate our friendships with him, from 11:30am on Sunday 11th June at Mulgoa in western Sydney.

I look forward to seeing all those who RSVP’d there on Sunday.

 

​NSW Supersprint at Pheasant Wood – Sunday 18th June

The MX-5 Club is running Round 3 of the 2023 NSW Supersprint Championship on Sunday 18th June at Pheasant Wood Circuit.

Entries have now closed, but spectators are welcome. Other than 6 MX-5s competing, there will also be a pair of McLaren 720S’s, a Ginetta G55, a couple of Nissan GTR’s, plus about another 60 competitors.

We currently have 9 club members who have offered to help run the event, and could use one more helper please. So if you can be available, and would like to get a close up view of the action, please contact me at competition@mx5.com.au

 

​Club Track Day at Pheasant Wood – Monday 19th June

This is the 3rd round of the club track day championship.

Entries have opened, with further information and the entry link available on the event page.

Half price entry to this event is available to club members who volunteer to help as officials at the NSW Supersprint the club is running at Pheasant Wood on the day prior.

Currently we have many fewer entries for this event than are needed to make our track days viable, so we really need some more club members to step up and join the event. If you have any questions, please contact me at competition@mx5.com.au

 

​MX-5 Cup Round 2 at SMSP GP Circuit – Saturday 15th July

The next round of the MX-5 Cup championship will be at SMSP on the GP Circuit as part of the Sydney 300 meeting. Entries for the event are done via the MRA website here https://motorrace.com.au/event/2023-round-2/

 

Completed Events

 

Club Hillclimb at Ringwood – Sunday 4th June

The club’s 2023 hillclimb was run at Ringwood Park Motorsport Complex north of Newcastle. Last Sunday, 4th June. There were 33 drivers entered in the event, and they were challenged with 2 different layouts of the hillclimb course, with plenty of runs available. I have heard that one driver clocked up 16 runs on the 2nd of the offered courses!
