Mt Kembla Pub
10 January, 2024
With weeks of overcast skies and rain, the skies cleared for South Coast’s first MX5 run of the year. On Wednesday 10 January, four cars, with tops down of course, left from Tomerong on the run to Mt Kembla Pub. Tony Badger joined us in Bomaderry and we all set off to Kangaroo Valley for morning tea. It was a slow trip up Moss Vale Road due to the continuing, or should I say stagnant, roadworks. A long section of this road has been one way for two years…. will it ever be repaired? Keith decided to slow right down so he could have a clear run to enjoy a few curves. He had no passenger to tell him to slow down! Most of us were hanging out for a brew by the time we got to Kangaroo Valley. We were fortunate to find a table in the shade as the heat was stifling. The remainder of the trip, up Barrengarry Mtn, through Robertson and down Macquarie Pass was enjoyable, with very few holdups on this section of the journey. David shared a few of his bus driving experiences travelling down the Pass. Most of us decided we would prefer to be in our MX5’s rather than take our chances in a bus. Our final destination was Mt Kembla Pub where twenty-four Illawarra members joined us for lunch. Despite a little bit of sunburn, it was an interesting drive and as always, great to catch up with friends.
