MOGO MUNCHIES
1 March 2023
Mogo Munchies was the official title of our run. But that was simply code for “Café Hopping”.
A small group of eight MX5-ers on this grey morning meet for coffee at The Heritage Bakery at Milton. Over our hot beverages, we sit and chat and catch up on news.
Graeme and Anne are invited to be run leaders for this simple and easy drive south to Mogo. “No problem”, we reply enthusiastically! We’ve been there many times. Follow us.
Off we set, down the highway. As there are only 4 cars and mid-week, we keep together comfortably. Not much traffic. One quick pull over to the size of the road when the rain starts so tops can go up, then on our way again.
Weather can’t decide what it wants to do. It rains, it stops, then some brief sunshine.
Next stop Mossy Point Boat Ramp. Yep, there’s Mossy Point, Annetts Parade. We’re just about there. Follow the leader everybody. Oops, wrong boat ramp. There are two in Mossy Point? We can see across the bay the boat shed with the coffee van, we’re just not on the right side of the bay. We need to turn around, so our little MX5s turn into pretend 4WDs and up over the grassy hill and easily back down we make our U-turn. Tail end Charlie to the rescue, Geoff leads the way to the correct boat ramp.
More coffee. Good coffee too. Martin and Sue start their shopping early, can’t wait for Mogo shops, need to buy T-shirts now.
Mossy Point is a pretty spot. Colorful kayaks neatly in a row. We wander to the water’s edge to search for the resident stingray, but it is a no show today. Some pretty little fish darting about in the clear water.
Weather has decided it’s time to start raining again. We dash for our little cars.
This time the leaders lead without incident. We take the scenic route to Mogo, via George Bass Drive, over the bridge at Moruya and back up the Highway.
Next stop, Grumpy & Sweetheart’s at Mogo. We order our meals and drinks and sit outdoors under cover. Lots of chatting and laughter. It’s lovely to be with comfortable friends and easy conversation.
Lunch eaten, it’s time to wander the shops. A couple of ladies are headed to the kitchen shop. Did someone say “fudge”? The artist in our group wants to head to the art supply shop. It’s time to go our separate ways and spend some money in this little town.
A lovely day out with good company, good food and, you guessed it, good coffee.
