Mystery Run – 14 April 2026
14 April 2026 / Words & Photos by Peter Wilson
It was a cool start this morning with a low of 0.1 degree, however it warmed quickly and the sun was shining with a pleasant ten degrees as we sipped coffee at Daughters at Hall. Not many could make it today, just five members in three cars. Not sure if it was the price of fuel; anyway I purchased 98 octane today for $2.409/litre. Not too expensive to discourage a nice drive on a sunny day.
At 10:30am we departed for our lunch destination; the Courthouse Hotel in Boorowa. This venue just happens to be the favourite for my motorbike group and, in fact, we are riding there tomorrow.
The road via Rye Park has had much work over the past 12 months and is in very good condition. I can’t remember if we encountered any traffic between Yass and Boorowa; anyway it was a smooth run. The only downside was the number of insects on the road, my grille had collected a few. That after market grille was worth the purchase. I think it did stop a few insects from reaching the radiator. The weather is obviously too warm to discourage their activity.
Lunch was up to the usual standard with one member commenting on the price of drinks; much cheaper than in “The Big Smoke”.
I couldn’t complain too much about the weather or road conditions; just an excellent day to be our driving a MX5.
I arrived home around 2.45pm with a distance travelled from Hall back to Hall of 203kms.
Thanks to all on the run, a very enjoyable day.
