New Motorsport Secretary

18 November 2024 / Ian Combes

The MX-5 Club has a new Motorsport Secretary. At the last committee meeting, the committee appointed Chris Andry, who has put his hand up for the role. Anyone who has been involved in MX-5 club motorsport lately will know Chris – he drives a rapid yellow NC. Anyone who gets under a minute at Wodonga in a standard NC is someone to be watched!

Chris brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the role, and I am absolutely confident that the club’s motorsport is in good hands.

At the moment, we are going through a complex process – a handover from David Lawler, another handover to Chris, whilst also dealing with next year’s calendar, One Raceway, our membership of CSCA, and the motorsport presentation dinner.

It’ll all work out in the end I’m sure. We are joining CSCA, which is a good thing. We are running a round of the NSW Supersprint championship at One Raceway, and (I hope) also a round of the CSCA supersprint championship at One Raceway. The cost of One Raceway unfortunately prevents our club from running events at that venue mainly for our club, although if we can get other (CSCA) clubs signed up, other multiclub events may be possible.

Anyway, it will be down to Chris now to whip the 2025 motorsport calendar into shape.

Welcome Chris!
