Not Meeting

Mossy Point

3 December, 2024

On first inspection, I thought we had 30 people coming on this run. I then noticed almost all members had booked twice… that’s not usual for almost everyone! Two spreadsheets from different runs decide to merge… It’s not happened before. We ended up with approximately half this number ….. 16 members and 9 cars coming along.

The Heritage Bakery was our morning tea stop, rather than just a meeting place. It always offers good coffee and nibbles, both savoury and sweet. During conversation a few members were keen to find out where our mystery stops were…..it wasn’t a mystery if you had looked at the google map sent out 3 days before.

Paul led us straight down the highway, collecting Mike and Madhu on the way, until we turned off at Batemans Bay to follow the coast road. Although it is difficult to stay in convoy, we all arrived at our first not so mystery stop at Observation Point in Batehaven. Interestingly, no one had been here before. The recently upgraded viewing platforms gave us great views to Snapper Island and the Tollgate Islands. There was even a seating area for members who were not up to a short walk.

Next it was off to Guerilla Bay. The drive along the coast road is well worth doing… the road often hugs the beaches and coastline and we were lucky to see it at high tide. Unfortunately, there was no parking at the Guerilla Bay lookout so after a short detour, it was off to lunch. Most members were happy about this as there were a few rumbling stomachs amongst us.

Lunch at Mossy Point cafe was a first for some of us, but a semi-regular haunt for others.  There was plenty of outdoor seating but a powerfully scented Mexican Orange Blossom set of hayfever amongst a few of us. The lunch menu offered a wide selection plus a few specials of the day. Lunch was of high quality and according to regulars, the food is always great.

As lunch was coming to an end, some light rain started which sent us hurrying back to our cars and home. So glad this held off for most of the day.

A very pleasant "non-meeting".... Maybe a few more like this next year?
