Nowra TAFE Lunch
22 September, 2026
Not every MX-5 outing requires a convoy of shiny cars, winding roads and a liberal application of sunscreen. On this occasion, we left the MX5’s safely tucked away at home. There was no convoy, no route briefing, no arguing with Google Maps and, for once, nobody had to worry about whether the roof should be up or down. Instead, we headed straight to Destiny’s Restaurant at Nowra TAFE for a very enjoyable lunch.
We also abandoned the usual club regalia in favour of casual clothes. In fact, anyone unfamiliar with the group could easily have mistaken us for a perfectly normal bunch of people out for lunch.
The three course meal featured alternate drops of the various dishes, with non-alcoholic drinks included. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive, and there was plenty of conversation around the table.
One highlight was knowing that our lunch also supported local hospitality students as they gained valuable experience preparing and serving a real three-course meal. Judging by the quality of the food and service, the future of local hospitality looks to be in good hands.
With eight members attending, this was two more than our previous visit. At this rate, perhaps ten members will join us next time. It just goes to show that while the MX5 and driving are at the heart of our club, good food, good company and supporting our local community are also important parts of what makes our club special.
