Rollands Plains Run and Christmas Lunch

The weather forecast was for thunderstorms, not the best portent for our Christmas lunch; but fortunately (and not so unusual) the forecast was wrong. We had a beautiful sunny day with some breeze, so we had a great drive.
We started from our usual place at the Port Macquarie Service Centre and welcomed two new faces (and cars) to our Chapter – James and Peter both with NB’s. I spotted few envious glances at Peter’s number plate MX5 1. They don’t get better than that!
We were a little late setting off as Mike anticipated an early lunch and attempted to meet us at our lunch venue but a quick phone call ensured that he delayed lunch and drove with us instead.
So we had seven cars with ten aboard as we set off on our Rollands Plains Run via Wauchope, returning via Telegraph Point. We did however encounter a suicidal goanna and a wandering calf but fortunately no harm was done to critters or cars, though we did have the opportunity to test our brakes and reaction times. We also kept a wary eye for the calf on our return run along the same piece of road.
After stopping at the Rollands Plains Hall for a photo shoot, we continued on to the end of the tar before turning around and heading off to the Rivermark Café in Port where Mark and Jodie were waiting to join us for lunch.
During lunch we presented Mike Walkden-Brown with his Member of the Year plaque and a bottle of red as acknowledgement and thanks for his contribution to the Chapter this year. We also presented Keiran Rodgers with a MX-5 cap and scarf as thanks for his photographic skills and as runner up Member of the Year. Mark Wilson from Port Macquarie Mazda was thanked for his ongoing support of our Chapter.
